(More customer reviews)I was disappointed with the performance of this blender.It could not blend hard ice cream--the motor would actually stop and make an awful noise, and I could smell a burning rubber odor.
The rest of my story is pretty much the same as C. King's.I bought the blender at Sam's Club several years ago.After about a year, the plastic base of the blade assembly cracked.The "black goo" is the grease that lubricates the blade assembly.Mine didn't bleed grease after I washed it a couple of times; maybe the crack was smaller on mine than on C. King's blender.Anyhow, soon after that, I was trying to blend graham crackers when all of a sudden I could smell something burning.I poured out the graham crackers and saw that the plastic all around the blade had melted.I've now been looking for a blade for a couple of years because I can't believe that even kitchen appliances are now throw-away items.From now on, I'm going to buy the best from the start, instead of buying cheap junk that I'm going to have to throw away every couple of years.
